Frontend Developer

Tiqets is an award-winning tech scale-up headquartered in the Netherlands. We are hiring a Frontend Developer to join our mission to bring the world more ways to culture!

Full-time · Amsterdam

Who are we

We are revolutionizing the way people buy tickets to unforgettable experiences at the best destinations all over the world. Our technology makes planning easy for thousands of travelers to find all the experiences they don't want to miss during their trip (museums, zoos, theme parks, and more), so they can book all their tickets in one place.

We are an international company committed to making culture accessible to our customers and our employees. We embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into our company fiber organically.

These values are promoted from the inside out and we strive to represent and honor differences in gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation in our company culture, our content, and our product.

If you want to join our team, working as a Frontend Developer, send us your CV. We might be looking for YOU!

Our values

  • We are remarkable: Have fun, be creative and celebrate great moments!

  • We are accessible: Communicate honestly and support each other

  • We are adaptable: Learn, adapt, and pivot. That's who we are!

What you will do

You’ll be working on our Web platform and contributing to how our customers and partners experience Tiqets. You will make sure the main website is fast, usable, and accessible,  especially on mobile devices. You’ll keep the codebase clean and maintainable.

We believe that development is a people-oriented process. You’ll work closely with the product manager, designer, and backend engineers of your team. We work in an agile way, learning from the needs of our customers and partners and adapting to them.

Here are some real examples of the work we’ve done lately that might help you get an idea of what you’d do:

  • Collaborate with the product manager and designer to implement a new user feature

  • Plan and implement A/B tests

  • Build and maintain a library of components inside an Nx monorepo to be used across different applications and domains.

  • Keep a technical debt backlog and ensure it’s paid

  • Work with the operations team to create new pipelines in Gitlab CI for our frontend

  • Upgrade our accessibility and performance by improving important metrics with the help of Lighthouse.

  • Use Sentry to keep our website bug-free and debug any issues

Tiqets is constantly modernising, so here are some examples of things you might do in the near future:

  • Improve our monorepo pipeline to speed up and unify development

  • Create a Datadog dashboard to monitor the errors & performance for your newly created frontend

This is a sample of what we do, but we don't have all the answers. Your experience and background will join ours and shape the tasks that you’ll handle.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for someone with relevant technical skills and experience in e-commerce products. You understand that development is about picking the right trade-offs and not about building the perfect system.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a developer working in an agile product development environment.

  • You’ve developed for different platforms and device sizes. Most of our traffic is mobile. Performance and ease of use are very important for us and for you.

  • Our frontend stack is Jinja, Typescript, React, and Vanilla CSS. Our backend is Flask and Django. We expect you to have experience with at least some of the technologies we use – and be willing to learn the rest.

  • Able to translate requirements into well-designed technical solutions and effective communication skills

  • Living in the Netherlands or willing to relocate from any EU country
